A Snorkel Jaco tour costs $70 per person. That covers your guide, all equipment, and free underwater photos — no hidden extras. Here's exactly what you get for that price, how it compares to other options in Costa Rica, and the best deal if you're booking for a group.
What's included in the $70 price?
Everything you need to have a great day in the water:
- Mask, snorkel, and fins — fitted for you on the beach before the swim
- Your own in-water guide — with you the whole time, pointing out fish and keeping you safe
- Life jacket — available at no extra charge for anyone who wants one (and many guests do — it lets you float effortlessly and just look down)
- Free underwater photos — your guide takes photos of you in the water and shares them after the tour. These are the photos that end up as screensavers and trip highlight posts. No charge, no upsell.
- 1,000+ tours of local knowledge — we know where the fish are. Not every cove near Jacó has consistent marine life; Playa Mantas reliably does, and we know every corner of it.
What's NOT included?
Just transportation. Playa Mantas is about 25 minutes north of central Jacó, and we don't offer group transport — guests Uber there and back. Uber is reliable and inexpensive in the Jacó area. Keeping transportation out of the tour lets us focus on the water experience and keeps the base price lean. See our guide on how to get to Playa Mantas from Jacó.
How does the price compare to other snorkel tours near Jacó?
Most guided snorkel tours on Costa Rica's central Pacific coast run between $60 and $120+ per person, depending on whether they include a boat ride to a distant reef, meals, or overnight stays. Our tour is a dedicated, expert-guided in-water experience at a premier snorkeling site. No boat required — the cove at Playa Mantas is right from the beach, which means no sea-sickness, no waiting for the boat, and no rushing. For a pure snorkeling experience with a knowledgeable guide and real marine life, $70 is hard to beat.
We've run over 1,000 tours over four years and the most common review comment is that it was the best $70 people spent in Costa Rica — and the underwater photos alone feel worth it.
Do you offer group discounts?
The per-person price is the same for any group size. However, if you're bringing a large group (8+ people) and want to discuss options, just message us on WhatsApp — we're happy to talk through how to make it work for your group. Families, bachelor parties, and corporate groups have all done the tour and had a great time.
How do I pay?
Payment is made on the day of the tour at the beach. We accept both US dollars and Costa Rican colones in cash, as well as card. No deposit required to hold your spot — a WhatsApp booking is all you need. Message us on WhatsApp or book online at snorkeljaco.com.
Is it worth it?
Read the real reviews from guests and decide for yourself — but the honest answer is yes, and not just because we're biased. Playa Mantas is one of the most reliably productive snorkeling spots on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The water is clear, the marine life is genuinely abundant, and having a local guide in the water with you makes a real difference in what you see. Most people doing this tour on their Costa Rica vacation say it ended up being the highlight of the trip — not just a nice activity, but a full-on "I can't believe I saw that" memory.
