One of the most common questions we get before a booking: "How do we get there?" The short answer is Uber — and it's easier than you'd think. We don't run a shuttle, and you don't need one. Here's everything you need to know to get from anywhere in Jacó to our meeting point without any stress.
The simplest option: Uber from your hotel
Uber works reliably in the Jacó area. From downtown Jacó, Los Sueños Resort, or Playa Hermosa, a ride to our meeting point typically costs $5–15 and takes 20–30 minutes depending on traffic and exactly where you're starting. Surge pricing is rare this early in the morning, and drivers in the area know the coast road north of town well.
When you book your tour, we send you the exact meeting point coordinates and a detailed description of where to be dropped off. Just paste those into the Uber app or share them with your driver — no guessing, no wrong turns.
From Los Sueños Resort: roughly $8–12, about 25 minutes.
From Playa Hermosa: roughly $10–15, about 25–30 minutes.
No rental car needed
You do not need to rent a car for this tour. Uber handles the trip perfectly well, and since we're only going 25 minutes up the coast, the logistics are simple. Save the rental car hassle for days when you're exploring further afield — Manuel Antonio, Monteverde, Arenal. For this tour, just open the app.
If you prefer to drive yourself
If you already have a rental car and would rather drive, that works too. In Waze or Google Maps, search for Playa Mantas, Puntarenas and head to the beach parking area. The road is paved and easy to navigate; a standard car handles it fine. There's parking near the beach at no charge.
We'll include the specific GPS pin with your booking confirmation, so you won't need to navigate on your own — just follow the pin.
Getting there from specific areas of Jacó
- Downtown Jacó / main strip: Open Uber, enter the meeting point address from your confirmation. Typically $5–8.
- Los Sueños Marina & Resort: Los Sueños is already north of central Jacó, so the ride is shorter than it looks. Uber from the resort runs around $8–12.
- Playa Hermosa: Hermosa is just south of Jacó. Uber north up the coast to the meeting point — roughly $10–15 depending on the specific pickup spot.
- Hotel in central Jacó: Most central hotels are within a few minutes of each other, so expect the same range as downtown.
Tips for a smooth arrival
- Arrive 5–10 minutes early. There's a short walk from the parking/drop-off area to the beach. Give yourself a few extra minutes so you're not rushing to get your gear on.
- Bring sun protection. The walk to the cove is exposed — pack sunscreen (reef-safe preferred), a hat, and a light shirt for the walk in.
- No shuttle means no fixed departure bus. Your Uber is on your schedule. If you book the 10am tour and your Uber's running a few minutes late, message us on WhatsApp and we'll know to expect you.
- Returning: After the tour, just request another Uber from the same spot. Service back to Jacó is just as reliable. Plan for another 20–30 minutes and $5–15 for the return ride.
